A Short Introduction to Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty is the name of the surgical procedure that is used to remove bags under the eye. The procedure removes excess skin from the upper eyelids and also removes the baggy effect on the lower eye lids. There is also the purely medical corrective procedure of blepharoplasty. It is used for correcting the problem of sight in older people who have their puffy eye lid or excess skin on the eye lid obstructing their vision itself. When used as a cosmetic surgery, the procedure is mostly used along with other cosmetic surgical processes where the face is uplifted.
There are two major reasons for the baggy eyes to be formed, one being with age wherein the skin itself loses its elasticity and the effect of gravity tends to create the extra skin at the lower lids of the eye, as well as extra skin which folds over upon the upper eye lid. The other reason is due to creation of extra body fat which can occur at any age.
Perlane or another type of dermal filler may be worth considering to rectify any crows feet around the eyes.
The end effect of this procedure is an improvement or boost to self confidence and therefore only such candidates who have a realistic opinion in life and are medically healthy in all other aspects are the best candidates to undergo this procedure. The looks of an individual changes to a great extent and the effect of this change should be well weighed prior to opting in for this procedure. And, it always helps to go to a doctor of good reputation for the surgery.
The effect of blepharoplasty is quite a long term one though with age it might wear out. However, it has been noticed that the procedure keeps the eyelids in a better physical state for at least six to seven years. The procedure itself requires the individual to stay under rest for a week following the surgery.
